Ingrown Toenail Treatments

Ingrown toenails can be very frustrating. Often ingrown toenails are due to over growth of the nail down the side of the nail groove. If untreated, ingrown toenails can penetrate the skin and can cause recurring pain, soreness, pus and infections.

Ingrown toenails can be treated with conservative treatment such as cutting the nail back at an appropriate angle. In most cases, the nail can be managed and grow back straight.

If the ingrown nail cannot be managed by conservative methods, an ingrown toenail procedure might be recommended.
Generally a procedure is recommended if you experience:
-
Pus and redness
-
Infections
-
Sharp pain
-
Pain along the entire side of the nail, not just the tip
-
Excessive tissue growth surrounding the nail

Before any procedure is done, a surgical consultation will be given to see if you are a good candidate for a surgical procedure.
